Warning that a "soft coup" is being waged against Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he sees attempts in the United States to "delegitimize" US President-elect Donald Trump using "Maidan-style" methods previously used in Ukraine, where readers will recall president Yanukovich was ousted in 2014 following a violent coup, which many suspect was conducted under the auspices of the US State Department and assorted US intelligence operations.

Before the election, the greatest threat to peace was Team Blue because it was willing to use unsubstantiated charge and extreme propaganda. The loss of Team Blue reduced the tension. Team Blue then escalated the situation. If Russia believes Team Blue is conducting a "soft coup," it cannot trust USG, only (perhaps) parts controlled by Team Red. If Team Red doesn't crush Team Blue, Russia has a greater incentive to infiltrate USG, either to assist Red or harm Blue.

The Cathedral is losing narrative control, but it is still very powerful. It can shape the course of events like a neurotic wife or girlfriend. It has conjured a Russian-American Right alliance because both Russians and the American Right agree: the Cathedral is acting insane.
