The Demons of Pizzagate

Over at Amerika, Brett Stevens sums up the #PizzaGate Possibilities, covering the background evidence that leads one to think there's something nefarious going on.

By way of This Week in Reaction (2016/11/27) comes Demon Worship and Child Trafficking Also a roundup of most/all of the info: DC PizzaGate: A Primer UPDATED 11/29 (some disturbing and NSFW images)

When this first came out, I thought it was funny and a good dose of medicine for the Left, which literally interprets everything Trump and the Right say and write, but from the start I thought many of the key emails that set off #Pizzagate had innocent explanation. Since this now seems to be on the verge of blowing up, for good or ill, into a big story, here's Scott Adams offering a splash of ice water.

About #Pizzagate
The basic idea is that a pizza parlor in Washington DC is alleged to be the center of a major child sex ring that involves top Democrats close to Hillary Clinton. I have labelled this story “not credible,” and that opinion is confusing people because there is a mountain of evidence supporting the allegations.

So let me tell you what a mountain of evidence is worth.

Mountain of Evidence Value = zero.

In the normal two-dimensional world in which we imagine we live, a mountain of evidence usually means something is true. So why am I looking at the same mountain of evidence as the believers in pizzagate and coming to an opposite conclusion?

The difference is that I understand what confirmation bias is and how powerful it can be. If you don’t have the same level of appreciation for the power of confirmation bias, a mountain of evidence looks like proof.

Here’s what I know that most of you do not: Confirmation bias looks EXACTLY LIKE a mountain of real evidence. And let me be super-clear here. When I say it looks exactly the same, I am not exaggerating. I mean there is no way to tell the difference.
I think it was Adams who recently described the similar situation with the "aliens built the pyramids" theory. There are lots of unknowns about the pyramids and someone who believes aliens built the pyramids fills every hole with "it was aliens." Each piece of evidence requires a different rebuttal, so on the one side is a lot of evidence that all ties together with the alien theory, and the argument against each piece of information looks solid by itself, but it still leaves every other piece of information untouched.

Below are some of the facts/emails that set off #Pizzagate:

Take the hankerchief map that is at the center of it all: it might well be a handkerchief map of Martha's Vineyard with pizza places marked on it. Lots of people mark maps and Podesta has a serious pizza obsession.

"Do you think I'll do better playing dominoes on cheese than on pasta?" It's possible Herbert Sandler is as funny as a rotting fish. He also sold Golden West Financial Corporation to Wachovia for $24 billion in 2006, right as the housing market was peaking. The company's value ended up being negative and was arguably the reason why Wachovia went bust. Wachovia-Golden West: Another Deal From Hell?

The demolish email:
Lo and behold, instead of pasta and wonderful sauces, it was a lovely, tempting assortment of cheeses, Yummy. I am awaiting the return of my children and grandchildren from their holiday travels so that we can demolish them.
This is like Trump's 5th Ave comment. Demolish is a verb used to describe the rapid consumption of a food. She wants to eat the cheeses, but waiting for the children/grandchildren.

Entertainment:
Uber Service to transport Ruby, Emerson, and Maeve Luzzatto (11, 9, and almost 7) so you’ll have some further entertainment, and they will be in that pool for sure.
In my experience, old people generally like having young children around and do find their antics entertaining. Since these children are a bit older, it might also be a joke, as in there will be nothing fun about watching the three brats I'm sending you.

As for the Comet Ping Pong logo, the fact that they changed it after Pizzagate picked up isn't surprising. You could probably troll companies into ditching or changing their logo if you generated attention and could legitimately show some resemblance to pedophilia code. There are also examples of degenerate artists and designers putting inappropriate images into children's clothing and movies, so it's possible if you look you will find more questionable logos, but I'd be interested to know who designed it.

On the other hand, the logo and the ties to other pizza-pong places is creepy. There definitely seems to be something homosexual related with the pizza-pong parlors and homosexuals have a predilection for young boys. Various items such as links to Epstein, Haiti, etc. may be independently valid leads. It wouldn't be shocking if something tuned up, but take each lead as separate and evaluate it on its own merits.

The Devil also doesn't need to go overboard. Even without #Pizzagate, the normalization of pedophilia is already underway. While the Internet hunts for evidence of a child rape ring in DC, there are documentaries openly celebrating the psychological torture and genital mutilation of young children. Robert Bork put it well: "The rough beast of decadence, a long time in gestation, having reached its maturity in the last three decades, now sends us slouching towards our new home, not Bethlehem but Gomorrah."
